Would you love to know how you could tap into the unmatched power or social media or at least master one of the social media platforms. Well Donna Mortiz in her article called The 10 Commandments of Using Pintrest for Business will show you how you can utilize Pintrest for your business.

In the article Donna explains all 10 commandments, I’m only going to explain the first 3 commandments, but if you are interested you can check out her article The 10 Commandments of Using Pintrest for Business.

#1 Plan for Pinning Success
As fun as it could be to just go and start pinning articles to your board Donna recommends you do the following first:
  • ·     Take time to set up your account properly
  • ·      Prepare Your Blog for Pinning
  • ·      Integrate with other social media platforms
  • ·      Link Facebook and Twitter
  • ·      Research what your ideal client is pinning
  • ·      Set up your initial “Boards”

#2 Check the Source Before You Pin
This is about pinning ethically making sure you do not steal others ideas and credit the source.
  • ·      Be Copyright Savvy- Read the fine print first!
  • ·      Check the source of the pin
  • ·      Add a watermark

#3 Pin Strategically
Now you can get pinning, but here are some tips on how to pin strategically.
  • ·      Pin across a range of Boards
  • ·      Follow, Follow, Follow
  • ·      If you sell products, add prices to your pins
  • ·      Add weblinks to your descriptions
  • ·      Space Your Pins. Time Your Pins

Click or Not to Click… What Will Your Audience Do

The definition of Play Rate is basically the number ratio between the number of times a user or potential customer interacts with your video ad divided by the number of times someone sees your ad (aka the number of impressions).

Play Rate can be used to see how well your audience engages with your opening image for the Click-to-Play video ad. If your ad has a low play rate, you can try making more appealing/engaging opening images or video thumbnail with a stronger call to action.

For example if your product is Old Spice, instead of having the Old Spice logo show up as the image for your video, have it show the OldSpice Guy instead. People recognize the Old Spice Guy and could be more likely to click the vid if it’s showing him.

Utilizing Social Media to Promote Your Blog

Mari Smith, Premier Facebook Marketing Expert, Top Social Media Power Influencer, Author, and Speaker posted a link on her Facebook profile for 25 smart ways to promote your latest blog post that was published by Rebkah Radice. For my Blog, I’m only going to discuss the first 3 of these 25 smart ways to promote your latest blog post. This is because the first 3 are all the primary social media ways to promote your new blog post.

Twitter
·      In order for Twitter to be effective you must post your article on Twitter and then tweet lots about it over the next week
·      To make the most of this strategy she says you should change/put a spin on you’re original articles title. This allows you to A/B test which verbiage gets results and which doesn’t
Google+
·      Google+ is an excellent place to post your original content for increased Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
·      Google+ is a great network to build relationships and share your content
·      If used proper Google+ is a great way to go viral
Facebook
·      To utilize Facebook effectively make it a habit of posting your article to Facebook with a quick and simple status update relevant to your blog on your Facebook Page
·      Make sure you provide a link to discussed articles
·      Another great idea she mentions is to place eye-catching advertisements on Facebook to further promote your article

If done correctly these 3 social media platforms will help promote your blog tremendously. If interested here is the link for the other 22 ways to promote your blog.

Rich Media vs Rich Snippets

In my Interactive Web Marketing class we discussed what RichSnippets are. Rich Snippets are microdata, microformats, RDFa, and Data Highlighter. Which, in terms that are easier to understand, Rich Snippets are the few lines of text that appear under every search result which are designed to give users a sense for what’s on the page and why it’s relevant to their query.

So I asked if Rich Media is the same as Rich Snippets and I was told sort of, but their better then Rich Snippets. To gain a better understanding of the two I looked up what they are and I thought I would share my findings.

The term Rich Media was coined to describe a broad range of digital interactive media. Rich Media can be downloadable or may be embedded in a web page.
Rich Media ad use images or video and involves some kind of user interaction. Rich Media allows agencies to make more complex ads that can get a higher user response. If your objective is to generate more clicks or create brand awareness, Rich Media is the format to go with.
